HMI Concept for future car lines.
When thinking of the future, of a time most of the cars are driving autonomously without any direct control of a human, it seems to be quite clear what a passenger may do when travelling. This is every day experience when being in a taxi, on an airplane or bus. What the car buyer or rental car user is looking for then, is another question. In the meantime it is interesting to look what technologies are supporting the transition from a driver workplace to a (mobile) communication center. Or is it more a center for recreation and entertainment? Which ingredients are needed to realize a car that is perceived as a safe and secure area for consuming, sharing and creating content, connecting to people but also give a living room ambience. One focus topic is the smart or functional surface. Bringing together touch technology, active haptic technology, black panel illumination and a broad range of materials. Trim parts that today support a special appearance but being some kind of inert surface can come to life. Not only having nice ambient lighting effects, more calling up input functions that are only visible and usable when needed.
